JUDGE WILLIAM C. CREGAR JOINS REVIEW COMMISSION

Chairman W. Scott Railton welcomed William C. Cregar today as the newest Administrative Law Judge (ALJ) to join the Federal Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission, working out of the agency’s Washington, D.C. headquarters. “I am pleased to have such an experienced Administrative Law Judge join the agency,” Chairman Railton remarked.

Prior to joining the Review Commission, Judge Cregar spent more than 15 years as an ALJ at the Department of Housing and Urban Development. There he adjudicated housing discrimination cases brought under the Fair Housing Amendments Act of 1988. As an ALJ for the Review Commission, he will hear and decide disputes involving allegations that job safety or health standards were violated. The Review Commission is an independent adjudicatory agency created by the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970. Its cases emanate from contested workplace inspections conducted by an agency of the U.S. Department of Labor, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.

Before joining the ALJ corps at HUD, Judge Cregar was an Assistant General Counsel for Personnel Law and Equal Opportunity, an Attorney Advisor, and a Labor Relations Specialist for that department. He has also served as a Reserve Appellate Military Judge, a Reserve Military Judge, and a Judge Advocate for the U.S. Air Force.

Judge Cregar received his Master of Laws in Labor Law from the George Washington University National Law Center, his J.D. from the University of Illinois College of Law, and his Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Chicago. Judge Cregar is admitted to the Illinois and Texas bars.
