SAFETY & HEALTH REVIEW COMMISSION
Judge Carol Baumerich Joins the Review Commission
Judge Carol Baumerich has joined the Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission as an administrative law judge at the Review Commission’s National Office. With over 30 years of experience as a trial attorney, Deputy Regional Attorney, and mediator with the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), Judge Baumerich fills the opening left by the departure of Judge John Schumacher, who transferred to the Review Commission’s regional Denver Office in June of this year.
Prior to joining the Review Commission, Judge Baumerich was an administrative law judge at the Social Security Administration’s Office of Disability Adjudication and Review where she heard and decided cases on appeal. As part of her many years of litigation experience, she held first chair responsibility in many complex proceedings before the National Labor Relations Board, U.S. District Courts, and U.S. Bankruptcy Courts. As Deputy Regional Attorney for the NLRB’s Baltimore, Maryland office, she was responsible for pre-trial witness preparation, post-trial and appellate briefing, as well as second chairing newer attorneys during initial trial assignments. Judge Baumerich has also served as a mediator for several state and federal agencies, and for the Circuit Court for Baltimore County, Maryland.
When asked about her judicial appointment, Baumerich stated that she was “most pleased to join the collegial team of Review Commission judges and participate in the very important work of the Commission.”
A native of New Jersey, Baumerich received her undergraduate degree from Upsala College and her Juris Doctor at Rutgers Law School-Newark. She is admitted to the New Jersey, Maryland, and District of Columbia bars.
