John X. Cerveny Named Executive Secretary of the Review Commission
John X. Cerveny has been named Executive Secretary of the Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission. During his tenure at the Review Commission, Mr. Cerveny served as Acting Executive Secretary starting in early 2014, as Deputy Executive Secretary for the Commission starting in 2006, and as an attorney advisor in the Office of the General Counsel starting in 1987.
As Executive Secretary, Mr. Cerveny will be responsible for supervising the docketing of contested citations issued by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). He will also supervise the filing of documents before the Commissioners and advise them with respect to various issues.
Mr. Cerveny received his Bachelor's degree from Emory University and his Juris Doctor from William & Mary Law School. He is admitted to the Virginia and District of Columbia Bars and is admitted to practice before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. Mr. Cerveny is originally from Baltimore, Maryland. He and his wife currently reside in Potomac, Maryland with their two children.
Mr. Cerveny fills the position previously held by Ray H. Darling, Jr., who retired at the beginning of 2014.
